Civ 6 publisher 2K is investigating widespread reports the Nintendo Switch version of the strategy game is crashing just as players are about to win.
Whether you’re about to score a cultural, science or religious victory, players are finding the game gives up and crashes instead. Just as they end their winning turn, the computer says no.
“That is its version of kicking the game table over,” Civ fan Tigris_Morte wrote on reddit, in one of several threads documenting the issue, as well as 2K’s subsequent customer support response (thanks, Nintendo Life).

Replying to one fan regarding the problem, 2K said it had notified the game’s developers who were now working on a fix.
There’s a suggested workaround, too – though somewhat hilariously it will require to you to declare war.
“Thank you for taking the time to contact 2K Support!” one representative told reddit user throwaway489er. “The development team has been notified of this issue and are currently working toward a solution. However, we do not have visibility on their progress here in customer support, and therefore don’t have a timeline on when a fix will be implemented.
