Manchester United have reportedly held initial talks with Brentford over a late deal for Ivan Toney, who is also being linked with Chelsea.

According to The Standard, United have enquired about the 28-year-old but negotiations are not yet a serious stage and no offer has been submitted. The report states Brentford are hopeful interest in the England international could lead to a bidding war.

Chelsea reportedly made a move to sign the former Peterborough United star this week, who is now valued at around £40 million ($52.8m). Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli had a bid rejected for Toney – who is in the last year of his contract. The Bees ace could yet get his dream transfer move after all.
