Theo Hernandez's long-term future at AC Milan might be in jeopardy as the Serie A giants ponder whether to meet the France international's excessive wage demands, Calciomercato have reported.
Hernandez signed for Milan in 2019 after an unsuccessful stint at Real Madrid and quickly became a key figure at San Siro.
However, after five largely successful years, Milan are unsure whether to remove the left-back's contract, which expires in 2026, or cash in on him.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a largely successful spell at Milan and has established himself as one of the leading full-backs in Europe.
However, per the Calciomercato report, Hernandez's body language on the pitch and lapses of concentration in defence have called into question his ability to impact games. In fact, after Milan's agonising 3-3 draw against Cagliari last weekend, manager Paulo Fonseca called Hernandez out for his defending.
"You can't concede goals like that… Theo must improve defensively, and we are working to correct that," he told reporters following the game.
Hernandez sees his long-term future with Milan and is happy at the club as he wants to stay beyond June 2026. But the delay in contract negotiations in recent months has paved the way to some doubts. Additionally, the French left-back has requested an increase from his current €4.5 million per season to €6.5 million.

The 3-3 draw against Cagliari leaves Milan in seventh position, outside the European contention zone. They have collected just 18 points from 11 games and are eight points behind league leaders Napoli with a game in hand. Hernandez will be hoping to lead the way in Milan's next game following the international break, which is against rivals Juventus, who are in sixth position.
